Proposition 65, Emissions & Product Safety
Clear policies for ordering, fitment, shipping, returns, privacy and product use.
Effective date: July 25, 2026
Automotive products can contain or expose users to chemicals, fuels, metals, dust, oils and combustion by-products. This page explains California Proposition 65 warnings and related product-safety and emissions information. It does not replace a warning displayed on an affected product page, label or packaging.
California Proposition 65
California Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings before exposing individuals in California to listed chemicals that are known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, unless an exposure is below an applicable safe-harbor level or another exception applies.
A Proposition 65 warning does not necessarily mean a product violates a safety standard or is unsafe when used as directed. It indicates that the manufacturer, supplier or seller has determined a warning is required or appropriate for a potential listed-chemical exposure.
Warnings before purchase
Where FSP receives warning information for an online product, the warning should appear on the product page or otherwise be clearly associated with the product before purchase. Review all warnings, labels, safety data and manufacturer instructions. This general page is educational and is not a substitute for the product-specific warning.
Common automotive exposures
Depending on the product and activity, potential exposures may involve lead and lead compounds, nickel, chromium, carbon black, phthalates, petroleum products, solvents, adhesives, battery chemicals, brake or clutch dust, exhaust and combustion by-products. Avoid unnecessary contact, provide ventilation, wear appropriate protective equipment, wash after handling and follow disposal requirements.
Typical warning format
An affected product may display a warning such as: WARNING: Cancer and Reproductive Harm — www.P65Warnings.ca.gov. The precise warning depends on information supplied for the product and current California requirements.
Emissions and CARB restrictions
Some performance parts may alter or affect a vehicle’s emissions-control system and may not be legal for sale, installation or use on pollution-controlled vehicles. California and other jurisdictions can require an Executive Order exemption or other authorization. Product tags such as “Not CARB approved,” “CARB acknowledgement required,” “race use only” or “off-road only” must be observed.
FSP may restrict shipping based on destination, product classification or supplier instructions. You are responsible for confirming legality in the place where the vehicle is registered and operated. A product’s availability on the website does not authorize unlawful use.
Installation and protective measures
Read manufacturer instructions and safety information before handling or installation. Use appropriate ventilation, eye protection, gloves, respiratory protection, lifting equipment and fire-safety procedures. Automotive fluids, batteries, pressurized systems and electrical components require specialized handling and disposal.
